Farmer Wants a Wife, The CW's new reality dating show with a twist, debuted last week on Wednesday, April 30. It's hard not to shake your head with that title, and the premise of the show only proves the point.
One lonely farmer is in search of his perfect match and has agreed to bring in 10 city gals to choose from. Of course, given the title, the bachelor and the setting, beauty and brains aren't the only factors farmer
Matt is looking for. He's actually more keen on checking out the ladies' farm-related skills, using various farm activities as tests to see how well they can manage. Of the 10 contenders for Matt's stamp of approval, two happen to come from Orange County.
Twenty-four year old
Josie Goldberg and 22-year old
Brooke Ward both represent California in
Farmer Wants a Wife. Of the two, Goldberg is the more abrasive and spoiled, while Ward seems gentler and personable. Judging from Goldberg's introductory spiels on the show, the lass from Laguna Niguel appears to have her own romanticized notion of what it means to be a farmer's wife.
"This could be a wonderful lifestyle, riding horses, going to polo matches. The farmer's wife doesn't work, she has people who work for her," she said. Now where'd she get that idea?
On the other hand, Ward, who originally hails from Texas, seems to have a truly romantic picture of what her purpose is on
Farmer Wants a Wife.
"I really just want that fairy tale marriage, just dancing in the rain, just doing spontaneous thing and being totally in love and happy," she stated in her introductory confessional.
Well, perhaps she's off to a good start after catching farmer Matt's attention with her southern drawl.
"That was pretty sexy," Matt said of her Texas accent.
