In last week's episode of the CW's
Farmer Wants a Wife, we saw a whole lot of pie, which were all made by the women to impress our farmer,
Matt. In fact,
Amanda was the star baker of the challenge, as Matt hailed hers the most delicious among the batch. Last week we also saw how
Ashley placed Matt in an awkward spot more than once. He tried to get to know her a little more, but to no avail as they soon realized they didn't have much in common. Amidst the drama of the reality competition, Matt has revealed himself as a simple guy with dreams of finding the woman of his dreams. Last month, he spoke to the
River Front Times to let us in on his thoughts about the show.
"Locally, in the beginning, during filming, people were frightened. Country folks and farmers haven't been portrayed well in the media at any point in time...so rightfully people were skeptical," Matt spoke of the local's reactions towards the Hollywood production staff's arrival. "As of now, I think they are enjoying [the show]."
However, Matt isn't all that country, as he has been to St. Louis, Missouri and lived the city life a little bit before.
"I would go downtown in college, but I went away to college (University of Central Missouri) for four years," he revealed. "When I came back it was a culture shock. It's pretty lonely out here."
Now that Matt has become a familiar place back in his hometown, he has deal with being recognized on the streets. Moreover, he has to worry about how the reality show was edited and how he was portrayed in it.
"You definitely worry and you never know with editing, but i knew if i didn't do it on TV or say it, they couldn't make me do it," he says. "If you don't cuss on TV, they can't put a cuss word in your mouth."
