'Falling Skies' Coming to TNT This Summer
Steven Spielberg makes it personal. TNT has billed the sci-fi drama Falling Skies as a character-driven tale about alien invasion and its aftermath. Of course, we're getting the array of special effects we all expected. But this time, they're accompanied by a moving and gritty narrative that will certainly keep viewers watching.

After an extraterrestrial attack leaves the planet devastated, a few survivors are left. They've banded together to increase their chances of survival, in addition to figuring out how to fight back.

Falling Skies introduces us to a Boston history professor named Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), who has suffered greatly from the arrival of the aliens. His wife has been killed and one of his three sons has been abducted. Now he has to stay alive to protect the other two, recover his missing child, and use his military knowledge to aid the resistance movement known as the 2nd Mass.

Joining him in outsmarting the visitors is Weaver (Will Patton), the leader of the movement. Also with the group is Anne Glass (Moon Bloodgood), a pediatrician who finds herself caring for the children left traumatized by the event. The orphan Lourdes (Seychelle Gabriel) helps her out in the clinic, even though she's dealing with some issues herself.

As the troupe worries about mysterious and powerful aliens, there's another problem on the horizon. An outlaw motorcycle gang led by John Pope (Colin Cunningham) might just get in their way. Margaret (Sarah Carter) is the only known survivor of their gang and now she's on the run.

On Falling Skies, we meet a massive force of extraterrestrials that are nothing short of deadly. The 2nd Mass have named the strong, spider-like aliens as Skitters, while those that shoot bullets from their arms are called Mechs. Whatever the label, the only thing to do is to eliminate them before they complete their ultimate plan for the planet.

Along with Steven Spielberg, the executive producers for Falling Skies include DreamWorks Television heads Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, Graham Yost and Saving Private Ryan screenwriter Robert Rodat. The sci-fi series premieres on Sunday, June 19 at 9pm on TNT.
