MTV Renews 'Faking It' for Season 2
Monday, June 9, 2014
The faux lesbians will be back. MTV has renewed its newest comedy, Faking It, for a second season of 10 episodes. The show will air its first season finale Tuesday, June 10 at 10:30pm.
Faking It centers on two female best friends in high school who decide to pretend to be a lesbian couple to gain popularity. Complicating matters is the fact that one of them is actually a lesbian harboring feelings for her BFF, but the other is obsessed with the hottest guy in school.
The renewal is a big deal because MTV has been in a bit of a rut when it comes to scripted shows. The network has Awkward and Teen Wolf, but beyond those, the last six new scripted shows MTV debuted were all cancelled after just one season. That list includes comedies Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, The Inbetweeners, Death Valley, I Just Want My Pants Back and dramas Skins and Underemployed.
Other than Teen Wolf and Awkward, Faking It is the first MTV scripted show to get a second season since The Hard Times of R.J. Beger, which debuted in 2010.
Faking It stars Rita Volk, Katie Stevens, Gregg Sulkin and Michael Willett. The first season ends Tuesday at 10:30pm on MTV.
