MTV's 'My Super Sweet 16' Gets 'Exiled' Beginning August
Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Earlier this year, it was announced that viewers will get to see the girls of My Super Sweet 16 as they take on yet another milestone in their lives.  In fact, this little “milestone” involves having to travel to several corners of the world to experience life outside their comfort zones.  The idea of the send-off came about when MTV executive Dave Sirulnick realized how comfortable the girls were in their own little worlds.  He noted that they had unsubstantial awareness regarding their society and the world, and that this presented an opportunity for the network to give the girls an experience of a lifetime.

Tagged My Super Sweet 16: Exiled!, the show will bring back Amanda, Ava, Chelsi, Bjorn, Marissa, Meleny, Sierra and Alex to our television screens, this time as they deal with circumstances beyond their imagination.

MTV will also be airing a four-hour My Super Sweet 16 marathon on Saturday, August 23 at 1pm, which will be followed by The Road to Exile, a special which will help viewers catch up on the girls and how their behavior pushed their parents to send them away.

For those who don’t remember the eight Sweet 16 girls, let’s have a recap.

Amanda, who is now 19 years old, is a well-pampered lady who her parents find lazy and inefficient.  They’re sending her off to Kenya, Africa, where they hope she learns to fend for her own.

Ava is the ultimate spoiled brat. She shopped for her Sweet 16 dress in Paris and threw a tantrum for not getting a Range Rover for her birthday.  After running away, her parents cancelled her credit card, forcing her to come home.  Now, she’s still living the high life while majoring in global studies in college.  Her parents are decided on sending her off to Thailand, where she will learn more about the real world out there than whatever all the books could teach her.

Two years ago, Chelsi had a Roman-themed Sweet 16 celebration.  Now, she’s still the lazy brat she was, and her parents decide to send her off to Norway, where she should learn some work ethics.

Bjorn, the self-proclaimed “divo” held an over-the-top sweet 16 two years ago.  Today, he still lives off his parent’s cash, and they decided that he needs to go to Morocco to learn that money does not grow on trees.

Spoiled daddy’s girl Marissa has everything at her disposal.  Now, she’s being sent to Kerala, India, where everyone must fend for one’s self.  How will she fare in this environment that requires total independence?  Watch Exiled to find out!

Now 20-year-old Meleny is totally dependent on her parents.  Now, they want her to Peru, where she is to work for her own money and learn life lessons the hard way.

Sierra, the daughter of hip-hop star Cee-Lo had a divalicious childhood, and now that she’s 18-years-old, she needs to learn that things aren’t always handed to her in a silver platter.  Her parents are sending her off to the island of Vanuatu, where she has to learn how to work hard and be independent.

Lastly, there’s Alex, a Paris Hilton in the making, whose father wants to teach her a life lesson by sending her off to the Amazon jungles of Brazil.  How will she fend for herself?  Find out on My Super Sweet 16: Exiled! as it debuts on Monday, August 25 at 10:30pm on MTV.
