A woman named Kali Bowyer claims that actor Chris Rock is the father of her 13-year old boy named Jordan. Rock's lawyer said his client is willing to take a DNA test but is too preoccupied in promoting his latest movie.
Rock, a 42-year old native of South California, is an award-winning comedian actor and director. In addition, he is also known as the creator and the narrator of the show
Everybody Hates Chris, a show about his teenage experiences while growing up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. Prior to his work on
Everybody Hates Chris, he did stand-up comedy in several comedy clubs and appeared on television shows like
Saturday Night Live and
In Living Color. He also worked in movies like
Beverly Hills Ninja, Nurse Betty and
Madagascar among others.
According to The Associated Press, Bowyer withdrew a lawsuit in which she filed last month in Georgia, and plans to file the lawsuit again in New York. Bowyer, 42, asserts that Rock is the father of the child she had 13 years ago. Bowyer told the New York Daily News newspaper, "I'm not asking for money for myself nor am I suing him for $1 million. I'm just seeking a DNA test to establish paternity, medical coverage and child support." She also affirms that she and Rock used to be friends who spent time together. "Chris and I were part of the same group of friends. I wouldn't even call it dating. We were two consenting adults who had sex once in a while. No strings attached," she explained.
At present, Rock is married to Malaak Compton, founder and executive director of StyleWorks salon. The couple has been married since November 23, 1996 and has two daughters together, Lola Simone and Zahra Savannah. In November 2006, TMZ.com reported that Rock was filing for divorce after almost 10 years of marriage. However, the couple was able to work out their conflicts. Later, Rock released a public statement denying the rumors of divorce.
