Becoming a celebrity can easily inflate a person's ego, and for many of today's young Hollywood stars, the danger of getting caught up in the fame and fortune is always present. Fortunately for the young stars of the CW's
Everybody Hates Chris, namely
Tyler James Williams,
Tequan Richmond,
Imani Hakim and
Vincent Martella, their older costars have been quick to ensure they remain grounded as the show continues to gain success and popularity.
"The kids are great… we don't deal with any big heads on our show, at all. I don't stand for it,” series actress and comedienne
Tichina Arnold told the CW Source. “On and off camera, they're still children. They have a lot of fun, and we make sure that everyday is interesting.”

On
Everybody Hates Chris, Tichina Arnold plays Rochelle, devoted wife to Julius (
Terry Crews) and mother of three to Chris (Williams), Drew (Tequan Richmond) and Tonya (Hakim). Fans of the show know Arnold's Rochelle to be a strict disciplinarian, but Arnold herself has laid some ground rules behind the scenes for the show's young stars, one of which has to do with snacking on sweets.
“I don't allow cookies after three o'clock. They'll be so hyper,” Tichina Arnold said. “After lunch, no cookies no sweets. You know, Tyler… sneaks Jello and whipped cream and he thinks I don't know it.”
While Arnold is all for disciplining her younger costars, she has claimed in the past that she is unlike her character in many ways, but has drawn inspiration from many women in her own family. She is also a mother to young daughter named Alijah Kai, born in 2004.
On the current season of
Everybody Hates Chris, Arnold's Rochelle is up to her old ways, bossing everyone around while continuing to show her love and support for her family. The third season premiere featured executive-produced Chris Rock as a guest star, and Arnold said she had a great time shooting her scenes with her fellow comedian.
“We did a lot of improv. As soon as I hit the chair, like Chris and I were sitting across from each other, he just went for it… So, it felt good,” she said, adding that she has always been fond of doing unpredictable comedy. “To me, I love something that you don't expect… I love doing things that are just off the top of your head. When they say, ‘Cut!,' I don't hear ‘Cut!' I just keep going… you gotta keep going because you never know what you might get.”
Everybody Hates Chris airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.
