Everybody Hates Chris: Series Returns Tonight, Creator Goes Political

Fans of Everybody Hates Chris can't wait to see the fourth season of the show, which hits airwaves tonight at 8pm on the CW.  The show, which is loosely based on the teenage experiences of creator Chris Rock, stars Tyler James Williams as Chris, Tichina Arnold as Rochelle, Terry Crews as Julius, Tequan Richmond as Drew, Vincent Martella as Greg and Imani Hakim Tonya.  Rock also serves as the narrator of the show.

On this season of Everybody Hates Chris, Chris will head to high school, where he will have to deal with a fresh batch of difficult people, terror teachers, all while juggling the chaotic world that is his family life.

Creator Chris Rock, who began doing stand-up comedy in 185 in New York, became a member of the popular sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, where he gained exposure alongside Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, David Spade and Chris Farley.  Growing up in a blue-collar community, Chris Rock steadily built his career and was inspired by his real-life struggles to create Everybody Hates Chris.  Despite exuding a happy and carefree impression, Rock has quite a serious side to him that he recently revealed in an interview with Larry King.

While appearing as guest on the Larry King Show, Rock expressed his political views by pointing out a simple yet authentic thought about Obama and McCain.

“I hope Obama wins just because, you know, the country needs it,” Rock said.  “The country needs a change. We kind of seen what this whole McCain thing is.  And I'll go with the guy with one house.  The guy with one house is scared about losing his house.”

Moreover, when he was asked if he ever did political humor, he made a reference to his humble beginnings and replied, “I talk about stuff the way guys would talk about it at the barber shop.  I don't belong on any panel on this show.  You know what I mean?  I don't deserve to be near Roland Martin and Anderson Cooper and all these guys.  I try to talk about politics in a way a guy that works at UPS would understand.”

More importantly, Rock says that his support for Obama isn't just skin deep.  He says, “I'm proud Barack Obama's running for president...If it was Flavor Flav, would I be proud?  No.  I don't support Barack Obama because he's black.”
