Eureka Season 3 Premieres Tonight

Tonight at 9pm, the Sci-Fi Channel will be serving us up a fresh new season of Eureka, which stars Colin Ferguson as Jack Carter, the street-smart Sheriff of the town Eureka and father to Zoe, a young woman searching for attention while dealing with growing up with her single father.  Two months after the announcement that the show will be renewed for a third season, the Sci-Fi channel brings us the third installment, which will delve deeper into the relationships between Jack, Zoe (Jordan Hinson), and most importantly Allison Blake (Salli Richardson-Whitfield), the woman Jack Carter has been trying to pursue.

Recently, Colin Ferguson spoke to TV Guide, giving us the inside scoop on what’s to come tonight in the new season of Eureka.  He said, “A main character dies!  How do you like that?  Also, as last season ended, Eureka was wrecked [by an airborne metal-eating bacteria], so we bring in Frances Fisher [as a corporate hotshot] to fix the town.”

Moreover, Ferguson says that this new season will open with “a [rogue robot] that escapes.  It's fun, though it's hard to act when a main character is a visual effect.”

As for Jack Carter’s romantic relationships, Ferguson told the Star Telegram, “Before Carter and Alison do anything, you know, at the end of season two, there was a proposal from Nathan Stark to Alison.  And they’re sorting out all that whole line.  [In the meantime] yeah, I want him to have a girlfriend.”

He added jokingly, “I’ve got some classy choices.  I hear Michelle Pfeiffer’s available!”

Meanwhile, it seems that Ferguson is having fun shooting the third season, despite having to do some scary stunts.  In one particular scene, he was required to stand close to an exploding Jeep, and he admits that this was quite a nerve-racking experience.

“They say, ‘OK, stand as close as you’re comfortable to the Jeep, because we’re going to explode all the windows.’  And you’re never really sure how it’s going to work,” he told the Star Telegram.  “The effects guy was saying that, with safety glass these days, it’s near impossible to get that sort of explode-out effect.  But it’s interesting to be on set where they say, ‘OK, stand next to that,’ then you turn around and there’s 50 people around with earplugs and facemasks on and they’re asking to get closer!”

Fans who can’t wait to see tonight’s episode can log on to Eureka’s official website to see a sneak peek of “Bad to the Drone”, which features the cast singing and dancing alone to the tune of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor.”  This little musical will certainly get you in the mood for tonight’s season 3 debut.  Log on to SciFi.com/Eureka to check out the latest videos and images from the set of the show.
