When our favorite genius-populated town Eureka returns to a newly branded SyFy Channel after an almost 10-month break, a "unique problem" arises anew and Carter (Colin Ferguson) can't help but get involved in the whole thing, especially in the midst of his redaction.

On "Welcome Back Carter," Carter is still out of a job as sheriff, and gets a new one with Homeland Security, which means, yes, he might need to leave Eureka. As expected, no one is happy about the decision, including Carter himself.  His deputy Jo (Erica Cerra), meanwhile, is trying to adjust to her new boss, Sheriff Andy, who is smart and dedicated but just happens to be a robot. Whether or not a humanoid can tackle the "unique" things that beset Eureka periodically, only time will tell.

The episode also marks the series' move to Friday.

When we left off Eureka, a doomsday weapon built in the abandoned military complex was discovered. It was also revealed that corporate fixer Thorne (Frances Fisher) was in reality a 107-year-old lady named Mary Perkins, who was involved in a pre-Eureka research project that helped develop the first atomic bombs using radioactive material from meteorites. When Jack failed to turn her in, General Mansfield (Barclay Hope) told him that his services are no longer needed, effectively firing him.

Elsewhere on the episode, which aired last fall, tough cop Jo and Zane (Niall Matter) had to literally stick together, while Zoe's life (Jordan Hinson) was put in danger because of the agin syndrome that killed Mary's colleagues in the project. Also, Allison (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) realized she was pregnant with Nathan's (Ed Quinn) child.

Catch "Welcome Back Carter" tonight 9pm on the SyFy Channel.
