Thursday night was the finale of the first season of the surrealistic drama,
Eli Stone. By many accounts, the series chose a perfect ending to its experimental maiden season. But will it be enough to merit another go for
Jonny Lee Miller and the rest of the
Eli Stone cast and crew?
To date,
Eli Stone's cast, crew and fans are still waiting for news from ABC on whether the show will get a second season. And, as far as the finale's numbers go, there remains no solid basis to achieve any certainty of its return unless the network finally says so.

Here's hoping Eli Stone fate is better than NBC's Journeyman.
In Thursday's season ender, Eli went under the knife to sort out his pesky aneurysm problem. In what appeared to be Eli's close call with death, things soon went south on the operating table as Eli started hemorrhaging uncontrollably. At first it appeared that was simply a dream.
Meanwhile, Eli took on the case of a cancer-stricken man, who wanted to die with dignity, but whose rabbi wife was forcing into chemotherapy. Despite originally trying to convince the man on his wife's behalf, Eli subsequently realized the merit of his client's wish. Through an emotional, sympathetic and enlightened closing argument, Eli went on to win the case for his dying client.
And then of course, came the wonderful twist – Eli was indeed in trouble. His operation did in fact go badly, and the case about the cancer-stricken client was all a theatrical release in his comatose head. But, it wasn't entirely a work of pure fiction. And, George Michael made his perfunctory musical performance, ably backed by
Eli Stone regulars.
As brilliantly executed as the twists and turns of
Eli Stone's finale was, it didn't exactly draw highly impressive numbers. It garnered a 2.0/6, up 11 percent from the previous week, but just enough to land it in third spot during its time slot.
