On tonight's episode of Eli Stone - the second since its return last week and the third before it finally bids goodbye for good - we encounter the case of the news anchor that's been removed from his job.  Either he was fired or resigned, there appears to be something more to the case, and both sides are determined to go to court and not settle.

Also, after sleeping with Maggie (Julie Gonzalo), Eli (Jonny Lee Miller) faces off against her in their latest trial, only to realize that she has become quite a formidable attorney.  Meanwhile, Matt (Sam Jaeger) tries to assist his former firm - which ultimately leads to a profound decision on his part.

On the last episode of Eli Stone, a news anchor from one of the biggest media corporations was sacked, bringing Eli, Taylor, Matt and Maggie to Sonoma to question a witness but not without sharing an awkward car ride to the small town of Sonoma.  Taylor and Matt were planning a getaway before the baby arrives when they got the case.   They then tricked Eli and Maggie into joining them on the road trip.

The four lawyers had to join forces to free a witness incarcerated in a country jail. They weren't prepared, however, when the judge, who happened to be from Matt's past, delivered something devastating and vengeful.  Eli also started to feel the consequences of the Dark Truth treatment, as he is now plagued with not just one but two brain aneurysms.

To refresh your memory, Eli Stone was canceled November of 2008, alongside Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money, citing dismal numbers for the legal comedy.  Its 7.68 million viewers per episode average last season slightly dropped to 6.43 mil on its second and final season.  Continuing the plunge, the last episode reeled in less than 700,000 on the crucial 18-49 demo.

Catch "Mortal Combat" tonight 10pm on ABC.
