'Eleventh Hour' Premieres Tonight on CBS
With the proliferation of science-based shows on television these days, CBS introduces a new series to join the technological bandwagon.  Produced by Jerry Bruckhemer, Eleventh Hour airs tonight, dealing not only with science fiction, but with science fact.  The series is an adaptation of a British thriller of the same name, and follows the exploits of Dr. Jacob Hood (Rufus Sewell) in a world of crime and mystery.

In the pilot episode “Resurrection,” audiences are introduced to the Special Science Advisor to the US government, Dr. Hood.  For him, the beauty of science should only be used for good, and he has dedicated his life to saving people from those who abuse the field.  With his wife dead, he jumps into each case accompanied by his feisty female bodyguard, Rachel Young (Marley Shelton).

On “Resurrection,” Hood is brought over to the scene of the crime: Seattle.  The FBI uncovers some evidence that could link a certain group to one of science’s most controversial issues.  There are 19 medical waste canisters, each containing remains of fetuses with identical DNA.  Hood has to investigate the risks of human cloning, while his bodyguard pores over the other clues.  They encounter the code name “Gepetto,” who they believe is trying to clone his dead son.

Sewell takes the reins from the show’s British star, Patrick Stewart.  Their characters are unstoppable when it comes to pursuing scientific quandaries, breakthroughs, and oddities.  Hood delves into his work too much, but having a brilliant mind leads to numerous dangers.  This is where the bold Rachel Young comes in.

About Hood and Young, actress Marley Shelton says, “He's a brilliant biophysicist but he spends most of his time in his head so I have to watch his back.”  Their partnership is rather peculiar, with Hood dealing with a tragic past and Young being a control freak.

Below, there are two videos serving as previews to Eleventh Hour, with an extra behind-the-scenes look at what the cast has to say.

Also starring on “Resurrection” are Kate Nelligan, Michael O’Keefe, Jimmi Simpson and Lindsay Pulsipher.  Eleventh Hour premieres at 10pm tonight, October 9, on CBS.
