Last week on CBS’
Eleventh Hour, we saw Special Science Advisor to the FBI Jacob Hood (
Rufus Sewell) deal with some issues regarding food. Along with his partner, Special Agent Rachel Young (
Marley Shelton), Hood headed to North California, where a family mysteriously became paralyzed after eating a meal. The investigation soon turned up and they found out that the family was having an organic dinner which looked pretty normal, but upon taking a closer look, Hood discovered that the food was infected with a genetically modified agricultural fungus. The investigators soon traced this fungus to a company which dealt with pesticides.
Later, Hood decided to take on the bigger picture as another family experienced the same symptoms. He then set out for some damage control.
Tonight on
Eleventh Hour, Hood and Young investigate three autistic teenagers who return home with Savant abilities after being missing for a month.
CBS’
Eleventh Hour stars Rufus Sewell as Jacob Hood and Marley Shelton as Rachel Young. The show is an American remake of the British original of the same name, in which Patrick Stewart and Ashley Jensen star.
Eleventh Hour, which debuted earlier this year on CBS, has garnered mixed reviews, as critics were tentative with yet another American remake of a good show.
The San Francisco Chronicle describes the remake as “not nearly as ambitious as
Life on Mars, but entertaining nonetheless.” In fact, they say that "’Eleventh Hour’ seems less ‘
CSI’ than one man's using his smarts on cases that highlight the fringe factor of scientific and medical crimes. In fact, ‘Eleventh Hour’ is probably a better drama than Fox's ‘
Fringe,’ sans all the cool graphics.”
Entertainment Weekly, on the other hand, says “’Eleventh Hour’ looks and feels just like all of the other crime dramas. It is dark, somber, and brooding, with just enough light touches sprinkled throughout so you don't want to slit your wrists while watching.”
Catch CBS’
Eleventh Hour tonight at 10pm.
