Elementary continues it's first season with an episode tomorrow night called "The Rate Race," and from the preview video it looks like Holmes may be getting more involved in this case than he would like.
Masterful and Maddening
In the preview video, we see that Holmes and Watson are on a case that seems to involve the world of corporate affairs. According to the official synopsis (which you can find in the slideshow below), Holmes has reluctantly agreed to consult on a case involving the death of a Wall Street executive who appears to have overdosed on heroin, even though Holmes despises bankers. We've already seen how Holmes treats people on normal cases, now I'm dying to see how he treats people he actually hates. I think they will find him both masterful at his job and maddening as well.
I have to admit that I'm a bit skeptical of how serious this whole "missing" situation is going to turn out to be. In my experience, networks are masters at getting us to believe that something truly awful and scary has happened on a show, only to clear it all up almost immediately. I'm very excited by the prospect of Holmes being missing and I hope it doesn't turn into some sort of joke. Don't get me wrong, I don't wish him unwell, but I think that Holmes getting into a situation like that could be very exciting for his character. Holmes is only comfortable when he is in complete control of any situation and I think if some bad guy did actually get their hands on him, it could bring out some very interesting moments from him.
Here are a few more things we learned from the preview:
- Holmes is apparently not above claiming that he is with the police, and in possession of a warrant, to gain access to a home
- Holmes is going to have no trouble causing a ruckus at a corporate meeting full of uptight bankers
- Watson, Captain Gregson and Agent Bell will have to work together if Holmes is indeed missing
What did you think after watching the preview for this week's episode of Elementary? Do you think that Holmes will actually be missing or do you think that it will be some sort of ruse on his part to get him closer to catching his quarry?
