Duel is a high-stakes tournament style game show on ABC where contestants battle head-to-head as they answer trivia questions and strategize to outsmart each other to bag the largest cash prize amounting to $500,000. The show premiered on December 2007.
The first season of
Duel aired over six nights and featured 20 contestants guaranteed to take home the jackpot. Contestant Ashlee Register ultimately bagged $1.795 million. For this season, each episode features a new group of contestants vying to battle either last week’s winner or a new opponent. The goal of the contestants is to win each duel and take home the jackpot. At the start of the game, each contestant is given 10 chips worth $5,000 a piece. A multiple choice question is then asked and players must use their chips to cover one or more choices, depending on how confident he/she is on his/her answer. If the player covers the right choice, he gets to keep his chip. However, the game may end at any point if the player fails to cover the correct answers or losses all his/her chips. After winning a duel, the player then chooses the next contestant to battle with. He/she is also given the option to bank his/her winnings and go home with his/her accumulated prize. A player gets to win the jackpot prize of $500,000 if he/she wins five consecutive duels.
The second season of
Duel is set to premiere on June 27. The show is hosted by Mike Greenberg.
