Last Friday, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs became yet another venue that held thousand of screaming fans eager to experience
Drake Bell's rock out performance.
Bell, the 21-year-old star of Nickelodeon's
Drake & Josh, enthralled more than 7,000 concertgoers as he strapped on an electric guitar and blastoff his 45-minute set of Paul McCartney-esque pop tunes. He was backed up by a group of young rockers who shared his taste in music and together they delivered a banging performance.
In addition to the
Drake & Josh star, the crowd also enjoyed performances by other musical entertainers. Michalka sisters, Aly and A.J., performed songs from their third album, Insomniatic, particularly singing along to “Potential Break-up Song” and “Chemicals React.”
Bianca Ryan, 12-year-old newcomer who won the first season of
America's Got Talent, opened the night with a 20-minute set while
High School Musical's
Corbin Bleu hit the stage with a 50-minute nine-song set that included tunes from his solo album,
Another Side. Accompanied by a trio of dancers and a musical band, his appearance was welcomed with squeals and applauses.
More gigs are in store for fans of the
Drake & Josh star as he continues to go on tour and perform in various cities in the coming days.
But while Bell has already achieved so much and has already proven his crowd pulling charm, he still strives to pursue his dreams while remaining grounded and unassuming of his fame and stardom.
“Everybody thinks I have it made,” Bell said in an interview with Gibson. “But the truth is, I'm so far from where I want to be. Nobody wants to hear that, though. The big TV star crying the blues…would you want to listen to that? I know I wouldn't.”
Despite his numerous film and television endeavors, he is still more focused on music, which has his full attention.
“And now that I've done this tour and played to the biggest crowds of my career, I know in my heart that music is why I was put on this earth. If I had to make the choice between being an actor and a musician, it's a no-brainer. Tell me when sound check is,” he added.
