'Don't Forget the Lyrics' Host Performs at Colorado Fundraiser

Wayne Brady hosts Don't Forget the Lyrics On Friday, October 12, actor-comedian Wayne Brady, host of FOX's Don't Forget the Lyrics, performed at this year's "Girls & Guys Night Out" fundraising event, helping to raise thousands of dollars for Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, an organization that provides a supportive environment that helps empower young women.

The event took place at the Denver Marriot City Center, from 6pm to 10pm.  More than 840 guests showed up for the event, all hailing their support for Girls, Inc.  The guests were given a string of festive beads for every raffle ticket that was purchased.  Some of the items that were raffled off included a men's and women's Ralph Lauren shopping spree worth $3,500, a Tiffany Atlas Diamond Square women's watch valued at $6,400, a two-night stay at the newly renovated Tivoli Lodge in Vail accompanied by gourmet dining and massage packages, and a Desert Dreams package with a two-night stay at the Scottsdale Marriot Suites Old Town.

The program proper began after dinner, composed of such gourmet dishes as Bronze Rubbed Salmon, Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Flatiron Steak topped with Wild Mushroom Ragout.  CW2 news anchors Ernie Bjorkman and Vida Urbonas served as the emcees, while Girls Inc.  CEO Colleen Colarelli shared some success stories with the audience.

However, the biggest highlight of the night proved to be Wayne Brady's hilarious performance during the entertainment portion.  The Don't Forget the Lyrics host delighted the crowd with his numerous talents, at one point engaging them in an ‘interactive improv” wherein he selected volunteers to participate as props onstage.  Similar to his acts on the improv series Whose Line is it Anyway?, Brady also turned song title suggestions from the crowd into comedic rap songs and tunes, and even serenaded one willing guest with a “romantic musical.”

Overall, Wayne Brady helped to raise more than $265,000 for Girls, Inc.  However, this is not the first the Don't Forget the Lyrics host has participated in a charitable cause.  Just last month, he was at Kansas City for the "Stand Up For Synergy" gala, an event that benefited a families-in-crisis support group called Synergy Services.
