Dog Whisperer is a reality program about the various dog behaviors that human families encounter. It also showcases host Cesar Millan’s expertise in dealing and resolving the animal behavior cases by applying rules, boundaries and limitations. It also gives light to the reality that, more often than not, the owners need training more than their pets.

Each episode of the Emmy award-winning program Dog Whisperer features different types of dogs who are experiencing behavioral problems like excessive barking, aggressiveness or having obsessive-compulsive behavior. Initially, viewers are introduced to the difficult dog and its owners, showing home movies, which illustrates the pet’s misdeeds and the owner’s problems. As the narrator of the program, Millan recounts his similar experience in the past and relates it to the present case. He then discusses the issue at hand with the owner, generally giving suggestions on how the owner may change their own habits to become an example and a leader for their pet. Finally, he explains various techniques that could help the owner and the dog, usually mentioning his three-step process, “exercise, discipline, and affection.” In rare and serious cases, he takes the dog to his own Dog Psychology Center to introduce it to his own horde of pets.
