Dog Chapman: Wanted For Missing Court Date

Dog Chapman is once again the subject of another controversy.  After the release a tape in which he unleashed a racist tirade against his son's girlfriend that eventually paralyzed the production of his weekly reality show, Dog the Bounty Hunter, the bail bondsman from Hawaii is now a wanted man for failing to appear in court to address a traffic violation.

A $150 bench warrant was ordered last week for bounty hunter Chapman since he didn't show up on last Monday's District Court meeting to address an incident that happened in October.  Chapman was stopped by police after he was allegedly traveling 60 mph in a 50 mph zone on the H-1 freeway heading east near the Waialae onramp.

According to court records and officials, Chapman has failed to show proof of no-fault insurance for the black 1999 four-door Jaguar he was driving.  This means that his failure to present no-fault insurance is automatically considered a traffic infraction.

Chapman's attorney, Howard Glickstein, reasoned that his client didn't appear in court because he didn't realize he had to go.

"He thought it was dealt with administratively," Glickstein said of the Dog the Bounty Hunter star.

Someone from Chapman's office at Da Kine Bail Bonds reportedly sent Glickstein a copy of Chapman's proof of insurance and ticket before the Thanksgiving holiday so he could take care of the traffic offense.  But the portion that indicates the date of his court appearance on the ticket was said to be illegible.

"I didn't see any date of appearance," Glickstein explained.

Glickstein also claims that Chapman has no-fault insurance but did not have the card with him when he was pulled over by the police.  On the other hand, he says that Chapman is determined to deal with the proper authorities since he did not intend to violate the law in any way.

"We will do whatever is necessary to clear it up," he said.
