Disappointed 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' Fans Get Refund In Exchange for Signed Book

Duane Chapman and wife, Beth, at a book signing A number of Dog the Bounty Hunter star Duane Chapman's fans in Halifax have expressed disappointment over his live show last month, and as compensation, Agenda Managers, the company that promoted the August 25 event, have offered to refund $50 dollars.  There is a catch, however.  The disgruntled VIP attendees must return their signed copies of Chapman's new autobiographical book, You Can Run, But You Can't Hide.

"I just called them and I said, 'You know, I think a refund's in order, because it wasn't very good,'" Ches Brushett, a fan who has been very vocal about his dissatisfaction, told The Daily News.  "She said they'd give people 50 bucks and ask for the book back."

At last month's event, Agenda Managers apparently promised VIP attendees two drink tickets, finger foods, a meet-and-greet session with Duane Chapman and a signed copy of his book.  However, because of time constraints, some of the Dog the Bounty Hunter star's fans did not get to meet him.  Brushett and some others, on the other hand, were able to get a few minutes with Chapman after complaining to promoters repeatedly.

Brushett has decided not to accept the refund and is instead planning to take promoters to small-claims court.

On the other hand, Agenda Managers claim they have done everything they can, and that most of Duane Chapman's fans are satisfied.

"I had very, very few people call me; I made that gesture to them and they were happy with it," Agenda Managers' Lynn Buckley told The Daily News, adding the company has exerted much effort in appeasing the unhappy fans and cannot comprehend Brushett's continued aggravation.

"The VIP ticket included a book, a preferred seat in the first three rows of the venue and the opportunity to meet [Duane and his wife, Beth]," she said.  "Those commitments were completely and totally fulfilled for Ches."

Buckley also said Duane Chapman and his crew arrived late, and there was not way the agency could have controlled the timing.  She added that despite Chapman's tight schedule, he still took the time to greet the VIP crowd, shake their hands and pose for pictures.

Most importantly, Beth, who co-stars in Dog the Bounty Hunter, apparently offered Brushett a full refund of his ticket on the night of the event.

"She made that offer to him and he declined, so I'm not sure what else we can do for him," Buckley said.

Brushett, however, felt the offer was insincere.

"[Beth] hauled me aside, she even took a $100 American bill, stuck it in my face, and said, 'If you want your f---ing money back, here,'” Brushett said, adding the refund is the responsibility of the promoters and not the stars.
