Last week's episode of
Doctor Who ended with companion Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) using the Manipulator to teleport to Earth, leaving the Doctor (
David Tennant), who was artificially aged 100 years, Captain Jack Harkness (
John Barrowman) and her family at the hands of the Master (John Simm) and his wife, Lucy (Alexandra Moen) as they gain dominion over Earth.
Tonight, the battle continues in the exciting and action-packed season three finale of
Doctor Who. The episode, entitled “The Last of the Time Lords,” will show the Master's supreme rule over the world, while the Doctor is rendered helpless as his prisoner. The entire human race has been turned into slaves as the mighty warship of the new Time Lord Empire rises from the ashes. It is up to Martha to carry out the Doctor's plans and save the world.
"The Last of the Time Lords" is written by Russell T. Davies and directed by Colin Teague. Guest stars include Ellie Haddington as Professor Docherty, Tom Ellis as Thomas Milligan, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Tish Jones, Trevor Laird as Clive Jones and Adjoa Andoh as Francine Jones.
Doctor Who is a long-running sci-fi series from BBC. The show originally ran from 1963 to 1989, after which a television movie was made to serve as a backdoor pilot for a new series, which never entered into production. It was successfully re-launched in 2005.
Tennant is the tenth Doctor to appear in
Doctor Who. In the first two seasons of the revival, the Doctor's companion was played by singer-actress
Billie Piper (Rose Tyler). When she left at the end of the second season, the network cast comedienne Catherine Tate to play the temporary companion of the Doctor in the show's Christmas special. Agyeman entered the series at the beginning of the third season, but has only signed on for a limited run for next year, as she is also starring in the
Doctor Who spin-off,
Torchwood.
Tate will be back as the Doctor's main companion in the fourth season.
Meanwhile, the third Christmas special featuring Kylie Minogue is set to air in the UK on December 25. The hour-long episode, entitled “Voyage of the Damned,” is directed by James Strong.
