The
Doctor Who reboot on the Sci-Fi channel wraps up its fourth season tonight at 7:30pm and, if spoilers are to be believed, this finale entitled Journey's End does a good job of bringing closure not just to this season but to the past three as well (as some described it, seasons 1 to 4 is one gigantic season).
In Journey's End, the Daleks are able to activate their master plan, which, of course, endangers the rest of the universe. The only thing that can prevent such from happening is if the Doctor's secret army of companions join the battle. There's a catch: a prophecy says one of them will die. Now the question is who.
Debuting in 1963,
Doctor Who is listed by Guiness as the longest sci-fi series in history. (In that respect, this finale can be the end of season 30, not 4). Everything in this reboot seems comfortably familiar but pretty much everything about the original
Doctor Who has undergone an overhaul. For one, increased special effects and superb writing has made the classic British show very visually entertaining. Even the eerie theme has been updated.
David Tennant becomes the tenth actor over all to portray the time-traveling doctor and some say is doing a fine job. He is able to morph from acting silly to being enigmatic and clever in a sec. This supposedly “hipper” version of the show has produced a legion of fans, which are evident if you browse Facebook and MySpace pages dedicated to
Doctor Who. And for sure, all of them will be tuning in tonight as Journey's End airs at 7:30 pm on the Sci-Fi channel.
Other than the Doctor played by Tennant,
Doctor Who also stars Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones, and
Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith.
