Actor and producer Timothy James Bottoms was born August 30, 1951 in Santa Barbara, California to a sculptor and art teacher father. Talent runs in the family as his brothers Joseph, Sam and Ben are all actors. Timothy is a member of the Santa Barbara Madrigal Society and he traveled around Europe with the group in 1967.
Timothy Bottoms made his big screen debut in the film
Johnny Got His Gun, where he portrayed the role of a physically devastated World War I soldier Joe Bonham. His performance got him nominated for the 1972 Golden Globe Most Promising Newcomer award.
In 1998, his portrayal of Carl Weaver in
Mixed Blessings won him the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival's Best Supporting Actor Award. He was part of numerous films including
The Man in the Iron Mask, American Hero, Tin Man, The Paper Chase, The Girl Next Door and
Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing. He also played Mr. McFarland in the Cannes Film Festival Golden Palm awardee
Elephant.
Timothy played George W. Bush on
That's My Bush!, The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course and on
DC 9/11: Time of Crisis. Among his notable TV appearances were on shows
East of Eden, The Hitchhiker, The Twilight Zone, Land of the Lost, That 70's Show and
Grey's Anatomy. He was also featured in the pages of
USA People magazine in May 2001.
He also produced a number of TV shows such as
Dinah!, The View, Intimate Portrait, The John Kerwin Show and
John Glenn: American Hero. Timothy and director George Hickenlooper also collaborated on the documentary
Picture This: The Times of Peter Bogdanovich in Archer City, Texas.
