Born on June 15, 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama, Courteney Cox attended Mount Vernon College for Women to study interior design and architecture. Later, she left school to pursue a modeling career and acting classes on the side. Her first exposure to the limelight was brought about by her appearances in music videos and television commercials. Eventually, she landed roles in movies like Masters of the Universe, Cocoon: The Return, and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. But she reached the pinnacle of her stardom as she became Monica Geller on the renowned television series Friends. Her other acting credits included The Runner, 3000 Miles to Graceland, The Shrink is In, and the Scream trilogy.

Playing Lucy Spiller on the hit series Dirt allows Cox to portray a role of an executive editor of a tabloid magazine. Her character also enables her to break away from her previous comedic roles and establish herself as a dramatic actress. Moreover, her inclusion on the series gives her the opportunity to prolong her exposure on the TV loop after her stint on her previous legendary sitcom.
