Dirt: Season 2 Finale Airs Tonight
Sunday, April 13, 2008

dirtThe second season of Dirt concludes tonight following only seven episodes of Hollywood scandals ripped from the headlines.  The show has finished the shortened season before the strike began and rather than resuming filming on the remaining episodes of the original 13-episode order, FX has decided to stick with what it's got, even if it means unfinished story arcs.

The series stars Courteney Cox as Lucy Spiller, the unrelenting editor-in-chief of DirtNow tabloid magazine as she exposes the secrets and lies of celebrities with vindictive accuracy.  Working alongside Lucy is expert paparazzo Don Konkey (Ian Hart), who uncovers the often repugnant truth behind shining celebrities through his pictures.

Season 2, which premiered on March 2, picked up where the first season left off, in which Lucy lays bleeding and unconscious after a brutal attack at the hands of actress Julia Mallory (Laura Allen), whose career was destroyed by DirtNow.  Don Konkey struggled to over come his schizophrenia through medication, Holt McLaren (Josh Stewart) climbed to the A-list ladder and left Julia, while Willa McPherson (Alexandra Breckenridge) ended her affair with DirtNow publisher Brent Barrow (Jeffrey Nording).

Tonight's season ender called “In Lieu of Flowers” finds Lucy as she is forced to examine her relationships due to a recent life and death event.  Meanwhile, an overweight sitcom actor takes desperate measures to avoid being on DirtNow's latest cover.  As for Willa and Farber, they find their relationship tested by a former child star.

Dirt is created and executive produced by Matthew Camahan.  Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Joel Fields serve as executive producers.

Meanwhile, cutting down episodes of Dirt doesn't mean that there is little hope for a new season order.  The decision to shorten the season “does not affect the chances for a third season renewal,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
