After gradually developing his relationship with Rita Bennet (Julie Benz
), a mother of two whose kids have also grown to adore Dexter, his dark persona has soon ignited an affair with yet another mysterious soul. Lila, his Narcotics Anonymous sponsor who works as an artist, have intriguingly captured Dexter's attention with her daring principles and bold outlook in life. Finding comfort with each other, Dexter and Lila seem to be the perfect match. On the other hand, Dexter
's lead star explains that this may not be the case after all.

“He's really come a long way in terms of his sexual evolution,” Hall told TV Guide.
“In her own way, she's just as dark and obsessive as he is…she's messed up,” he said of the character Lila.
After Lila intentionally burned her artwork and studio, Dexter has been a little doubtful of her. He soon realizes that she is becoming too clingy and decides that recovery isn't working for him. In this coming Sunday's episode, Dexter tries to distance himself from Lila, but discovers that she's not willing to let go of their relationship. According to Hall, Lila's days are numbered.
“It's only a matter of time before the extent of her darkness and how it might threaten Dexter will reveal itself. And how he deals with that, we'll see,” Hall hinted.
