Fans are already anticipating the return of Showtime’s
Dexter on Sunday, September 29 at 9pm, but before we get the ball rolling, let’s check up on the actors that bring to life the exciting storylines of
Dexter.
Erik King, who plays Sgt. James Doakes in the series, recently joined the cast of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s drama entitled
Wig Out. The play, which revolves around two competing drag houses in the contemporary underground vogueing scene, will begin on September 30 at Off Broadway’s Vineyard Theater.
King will be replacing Michael Kenneth Williams in the role of Lucian, the founding father of the House of Light. Tina Landau serves as director for the production, which will feature a separate performance on November 28 at London’s Royal Court.
Meanwhile,
David Zayas, who plays Angelo Batista in Showtime’s
Dexter, recently spoke of his thoughts on the show, following the release of the Season 2 DVD. He spoke to MovieWeb to share some insights on the show and how the story was successfully translated from text to television.
"[The script] was very well-written. Jim Manos wrote the pilot and he did an excellent job of using the characters from the book that Jeff Lindsay wrote," Zayas said. "I read it and it was such an interesting concept, I wasn't sure how the public would perceive it. I felt that it was a great piece of work that I'd love to be on."
As for
Michael C. Hall, who plays the central character Dexter Morgan in the series, Zayas has nothing but good words for the fellow actor. He says, "I think he's going to be very big. He's one of the finest actors I've ever worked with. He's very focused, he knows exactly how to track the course of his performance. He's very knowledgable of what needs to be done at certain times. Not only that, but he's got such a great attitude, so the sky's the limit with Michael."
So what can Zayas say about the much-awaited third season of
Dexter?
"There's going to be some interesting twists in the discovery that Dexter is going to create a lot of changes in how he looks at things," he reveals. "As for my character, I get a lot more responsibility in police work and there's going to be some new relationships coming... I don't want to give it away too much."

Dexter's season 3 on September 28 at 9pm on Showtime.
