The San Diego Comic-Con did wonders for
Dexter fans, who are already anticipating the September 28 return of the show's third season. CBS treated the fans to an airing of the edited versions of Dexter's debut season during the WGA writers' strike, thus sparking interest in old nad new fans alike. Because of the show's massive support, it was able to land a whopping five Emmy nominations, including one for Best Drama Series and Best Actor. Last week, the stars of the Showtime's Dexter gathered for the Comic-Con, which premiered the third season's trailer.
Fans and viewers were then introduced to
Jimmy Smits, who will be playing Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado in the third season of
Dexter. Prado was described as a man committed to family values, committed to cleaning up the streets," pretty much like Dexter himself.
Recently,
Michael C. Hall told Kristin of E! Online that "Dexter has turned his back on his father but is still using the code," adding that "there still remains an unconscious desire for connection. And certain circumstances lead him into a relationship with Jimmy Smits’ character which satisfy that urge in him."
As for our the new character played by Jimmy Smits, we already know that he will be Dexter's new buddy, but executive producer points out that more than that, Smits will be playing a character who has "great political ambition" aside from being Dexter's "first adult friend."
One major spoiler that Phillips let slip was that Dexter will be killing someone innocent. He added, "I will say we can consider it dropping a pebble on a mountainside filled with snow, and it will cause an avalanche."
It seems the fun ain't only for the boys on the new season of Dexter. In fact, Phillips says that Dexter's sister Deb will "finally enter into a healthy loving relationship."
Fans are already speculating who the lucky man is, but Phillips says that "I can’t tell you with whom, but hopefully it will be a surprise."
Fans will have to watch out for the debut of
Dexter’s third season on September 28.
