'Dexter' Season 2 Premieres Tomorrow
The previous season of Showtime's Dexter ended with the eponymous lead character killing the Ice Truck Killer, who also happens to be his brother.  In the process, he not only saved the city of Miami from the dangerous criminal, but also his foster sister, who unwittingly had been dating the Ice Truck Killer.

Tomorrow night, fans of the dark television series will be able to watch Dexter again, only this time, the blood spatter analyst/serial killer is apparently having a hard time going in for the kill.

In the second season opener, "It's Alive," Dexter, played by Golden Globe nominee Michael C. Hall, finds himself unable to murder criminals who have slipped through the justice system, an act he had no trouble carrying out in the previous season.  This is understandable, seeing as it has only been 38 days since he took the life of his own brother.  However, Dexter is unable to recognize this is as the root of his hesitation.

“[In a scene where] he can't stab the guy in the head, he's like, 'What's going on? I don't get it.'  Not, 'Well, I just killed my brother.  I have this gaping wound,' " Michael C. Hall told USA Today.  "He remains a little developmentally disabled in terms of his ability to connect the dots."

Aside from not being able to kill, Dexter must continue to ward off Sergeant Doakes (Erik King), who is growing more and more suspicious of him.  This forces Dexter to spend more time with his girlfriend Rita's (Julie Benz) family, which in turn keeps him away from implementing his idea of justice.

Meanwhile, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) returns to work at Miami Metro PD, although it is clear she is not yet ready for it given her traumatizing experience.

Hall said the second season of Dexter will dive more into his character's relationship with his father Harry (James Remar).

"Over the course of the second season, a lot more blanks are filled in with some troubling discoveries, primarily in terms of his relationship to his father and the code," the rules that dictate who Dexter can murder, Michael C. Hall said.  "Dexter is starting to discover the extent to which he was misled by him, told half-truths and out-and-out lies."

The second season premiere of Dexter airs tomorrow night at 9pm on Showtime.
