Biography

Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo

Born on December 9, 1962 in Bedford, New York, Academy Award nominated actress Felicity Huffman spent most of her formative years with her mother, as her parents separated a year after she was born. She attended Interlochen Arts Academy and upon graduating, pursued her drama studies at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

For her acting prowess, Huffman has received numerous recognitions, including a 2006 Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role and a 2006 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for her work in Transamerica. Additionally, her role as Lynette Scavo on the popular television series, Desperate Housewives, has earned her Best Actress in a TV Series- Comedy/ Musical Golden Globe Award nominations and a 2005 Outstanding Lead Actress-Comedy Series Emmy Award.

As a television actress, Huffman has appeared in number of memorable productions, including the made-for-tv movies, Reversible Errors, Out of Order, Door to Door, Path to War, The Heart Department, Harrison, Cry of the City, Quicksand, Heart of Justice, The Water Engine and Underworld. Among her other television projects are Chicago Hope, X-Files , Law & Order , Bedtime Stories, The Human Factor, Sports Night, The West Wing , Thunder Alley, Early Edition, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The Golden Years.

Aside from the big and small screens, Huffman has also appeared on stage, with her performance on David Mamet's Cryptogram earning her an OBIE Award. Her other stage credits include Oh Hell, Boy's Life, The Loop, Grotesque Love Songs and Speed and the Plow. Huffman also co-founded the Atlantic Theater Company, with whom she has performed on the plays Dangerous Corner, Shaker Heights and The Joy of Definitely Going Somewhere.

Currently, she and her husband William H. Macy reside in Los Angeles with their two daughters, Sofia Grace and Georgia Grace. She and Macy were wed in September 6, 1997.
