It has been confirmed that Sarah Palin will not be appearing on an upcoming episode of
Desperate Housewives. Executives of the show have rebuffed the claim that they've offered a spot to the controversial former vice-presidential candidate, despite the rumors that ensued.
There were stories that recently circulated, regarding the possibility of Palin working alongside the
Desperate Housewives stars. It was said that in an effort to boost ratings,
Teri Hatcher,
Eva Longoria Parker,
Felicity Huffman,
Marcia Cross and
Nicollette Sheridan would share their small screen with the Alaskan governor.
Hollywood publicist Hal Lifson even revealed to the New York Post that series creator Marc Cherry was excited to have Palin on board. He continued to say that Cherry is “very hot to trot to have her appear on the season-five finale.”
The following words are actually coming from someone not directly involved with
Desperate Housewives. Lifson added, “Marc is highly enamoured of Sarah and sees her as the ultimate guest star (playing) a similar version of herself. The idea has gone over surprisingly well with execs at Disney, who see it as a blockbuster based on Sarah's huge ratings on
Saturday Night Live.”
Seeing as how Palin's cameo on the sketch comedy show made ratings soar, other execs might just want to pull her into their TV territory. But one of them isn't
Desperate Housewives' Marc Cherry. He declined to comment, even though a spokesperson from ABC already took the words from his mouth.
“There's no truth to it,” said the network representative. Palin is definitely not lined up for an appearance on
Desperate Housewives, which means little for the ratings of the show.
Desperate Housewives premiered in October of 2004, and was well-received by critics and audiences. For its premiere season, it was awarded six Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. The series also stars
Ricardo Antonio Chavira,
James Denton,
Brenda Strong,
Kyle MacLachlan,
Dana Delany and
Neal McDonough.
