In July, we reported that
Tin Man star
Neal McDonough will be moving to Wysteria Lane as
Nicollette Sheridan's love interest. The star of the three-part miniseries re-imaging of the classic
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was picked to be part of the regular cast next season. He will play a new white-collar resident who, due to some turn of events, will meet Edie Britt, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The former star of
Boomtown shared his thoughts on how things are on the set of
Desperate Housewives and whether or not Nicollette finally struck gold, romantically speaking, with his character.
"It's like Disneyland, it's the happiest place on Earth," he said. "Nicollette is terrific, she's great. It's just this great cast."
After McDonough's last television gig with NBC's
Medical Investigation, he said he relishes his schedule now as he is finding more time for his family, something which he wasn't able to do when he was doing more movie work.
"I was traveling everywhere. I wanted to see my wife and kids," he said. "I was about to go off again and (
Desperate Housewives creator, producer and writer) Marc Cherry called and said, 'How'd you like to be the new guy?' It's just a lot of fun and it's nice to drive 3.5 miles to work, get home and kiss my wife."
The 42-year-old actor also shared some things about how his and Sheridan's storyline will shape up. Historically, Edie Britt, a serial divorcee, is not one to call herself lucky in that department. Will McDonough's character be another miss?
"There's definitely a past to the guy that no one else knows about and he's hell-bent on revenge as the year goes on," Neal said. "The audience is gonna like this."
Desperate Housewives returns September 28 at 9pm on ABC.
