Golden Globes not so Desperate for the Housewives
Golden Globes not so Desperate for the Housewives
Desperate Housewives was by far my favorite show during its inaugural season. I followed the story line of the mysterious body in the box with a vengeance, but I have to agree with the many critics who said its sophomore season was somewhat of a letdown. As I watched the 2007 Golden Globes I was interested to see who would win the category for Best TV Series - Musical or Comedy. I've been impressed by season three's comeback and am once again enjoying the 9PM Sunday time slot. But I wasn't sure if they were Golden Globe worthy. I would've loved to see either The Office or Entourage win. June's Entourage season premiere can't come fast enough, but I'll talk about that another time. I just want to go on record as a huge fan.

But Ugly Betty won for Best Television Series - Comedy. I've heard good things, but I'm not ready to ditch The Office on Thursdays to make way for an entire hour of Ugly Betty. But I do like the show and have caught a few episodes online and on DVR. I'm always a fan of the New Kid on the Block (not the boy group) so, after my initial sadness, I'm happy that the crew from Mode Magazine won. In all honesty, this category was filled with great shows, any one of which could have won. Desperate Housewives, while not my favorite of the five, was still more that good enough to be nominated. Desperate Housewives, to me, doesn't have the same "wow factor" that The Office and Entourage have. Ugly Betty doesn't either, but it's creative, unique, and entertaining. It actually reminds me a lot of Desperate Housewives first season's silly, sassy, and mysterious formula. It'll be interesting to see how the show looks in the second half of its season. -BuddyTV Staff Columnist
