Watch out, Wysteria Lane.
NYPD Blue actress and certified Samantha Jones-like cougar Gail O'Grady is gracing the streets of Wysteria Lane on a recurring capacity as a troublemaker (as if
Desperate Housewives does not have enough). The 45-year-old star of NBC's American Dreams will reportedly play a “Mrs. Robinson-esque seductress” on
Desperate Housewives who will be targeting one of Lynette's “rapidly aged twin terrors.”
To make matters more complicated, O'Grady will be married, and the
Desperate Housewives producers are currently casting for the role of her hubby.
Born on January 23, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, O'Grady made his television debut on a Diet Pepsi commercial with Michael J. Fox in 1987. The commercial landed on TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Commercials of All Time. Her role on the police drama
NYPD Blue earned her an Emmy nomination for the three years she played the part of the squad secretary Donna Abandando from 1993 to 1996.
After leaving the series, she made a pilot of her own sitcom called
The Gail O'Grady Project, which unfortunately wasn't picked up by any network. In 2007, she had a recurring role on
Boston Legal right after her three-year stint on NBC's
American Dreams.
Expect O'Grady along with the original
Desperate Housewives Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria-Parker,
Felicity Huffman,
Marcia Cross, Nicolette Sheridan when the show returns for its fifth season on September 28 at 9pm. Last we checked,
Desperate Housewives shot five years into the future with some expected and unexpected situations.
The show's executive producer Sabrina Daily assured that the flash-forward will not be obtrusive in any way. "The jump will seem odd in the first episode, but at the end of the episode, people will be on board with it. It will not be as jarring a change as people think it might be."
