When
Desperate Housewives returned after a three-month hiatus, several new faces have surfaced in Wisteria Lane. Among those characters is Wayne Davis, portrayed by Gary Cole, who immediately stirred some controversy when he was briefly introduced as Katherine Mayfair's (
Dana Delany) thought-to-be-dead ex-husband.
Though some viewers would expect the latest ex-husband hunk to create havoc by jumping on and off the bedroom merry-go-round on the ABC dramedy, Cole reveals otherwise.
Your Take

Few people are more awesome than Gary Cole.
"He's pretty isolated," Cole said of his character. "I'm in the last five episodes with only two more to shoot, and I haven't crossed paths with anybody except this family. It's pretty much about how he begins to insert himself into his daughter, Dylan's [
Lyndsy Fonseca] life."
As expected, though, something lurks beneath daddy Wayne's intentions.
"He's less than genuine sometimes in dealing with whoever he's dealing with," Cole added.
Of course Cole doesn't know much about the direction of his character's storyline, just like most cast members of
Desperate Housewives. According to the 51-year-old actor, show creator Marc Cherry is “still keeping everyone guessing” but he has given Cole a clear idea of what type of person his character is and the way he behaves with other people.
“I know very little from week to week where he's going…but what you don't know are plot points and how he will put that inside of a story," he said.
Before landing a part on
Desperate Housewives, Cole was known for roles on television series like
Fatal Vision, The West Wing, Midnight Caller, Arrested Development and
American Gothic. He was also cast in films such as
Office Space, In the Line of Fire, Kiss the Sky, Dodgeball, The Brady Bunch Movie, A Very Brady Sequel and
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Catch Gary Cole on this Sunday's episode of
Desperate Housewives at 9pm on ABC.
