'Desperate' Actress Lands Lead in Comedy Film

marcia crossUnlike Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria Parker, Nicollette Sheridan and Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross hasn't been landing other acting projects since getting cast on ABC's Desperate Housewives.  Now, it's her time to shine in the big screen as she toplines the comedy called Peck.

According to Variety, the movie centers on a high school student who lives under a microscope of parental scrutiny. When his overbearing parents force him to compete in the science fair, he thinks that he can surprise everyone. Instead, he develops an unlikely friendship with the school's golden girl.

Mobica said: Oh, I just love Marcia Cross, she is such an amazing actress.

Directed by Michael Nickles (This Is Not a Film, Do You Wanna Dance?) and written by Marc Arneson, Peck also stars Adam Arkin (Life, 8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter), Camryn Manheim (Ghost Whisperer, The Practice), Keir Gilchrist (The Winner, Life with Derek) and Brie Larson (The Babysitter, The Beautiful Ordinary).

Production of Peck is presently ongoing, although shooting is expected to wrap up this month.

Prior to landing perfectionist Bree Hodge on Desperate Housewives, Marcia Cross played Dr. Linda Abbott on the drama series Everwood.  She was also known for her portrayal of the mentally unbalanced Dr. Kimberly Shaw on Melrose Place, whom she played from 1992 to 1997.  Kimberly was, and remains, a firm fan favorite, providing many of the show's most memorable moments with her plans to kill many of the characters on the series.

On the silver screen, Cross was cast in the 2003 drama The Wind Effect, starred alongside Joshua Beckett, who also served as the writer and director in the movie Always Say Goodbye, appeared in the mystery thriller Living in Fear, and played the lead character with severe bi-polar disorder in the film All She Ever Wanted.

Meanwhile, fans can catch Cross and the rest of the cast of Desperate Housewives when the award-winning dramedy returns for a fifth season this fall.
