Ever think Desperate Housewives has jumped the shark? No? You do know that a plane is set to crash on Wisteria Lane in the near future right?
That being said, Variety reports that Desperate Housewives creator and exec producer Marc Cherry has inked a new deal with ABC Studios to extend his duties on the series for two more years. This means Desperate Housewives, which is currently on its sixth season, can remain on air through 2013 by which time it would be on its ninth season.
On the other hand, it's also very possible that Cherry will spend less time on Wisteria Lane in the future as he has another project for ABC in the works. The series, which he's writing with fellow
Desperate Housewives executive producer Alexandra Cunningham, is reportedly a multi-camera comedy about two mismatched brothers, one gay and one straight, who share a gynecological practice.
That's for the creator, however, and the
Housewives themselves have yet to announce whether or not they'd go beyond the seventh season to which they've already agreed.
