'Desperate Housewives' Stars Sizzle in New Promo Pic
ABC's Desperate Housewives is looking hotter than ever.

A new promotional pic of the hit series shows series stars Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, Nicollette Sheridan, Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria looking flawlessly bronze and lean, with tall orange flames blazing in the background.  According to the Daily Mail, the smoldering image is in line with the show's revamped catch-phrase, “It's A Hell Of A Day In The Neighborhood'.

The fourth season of Desperate Housewives is set to begin by the end of this month, and like the show's new promotional pic, creator Marc Cherry has guaranteed the new season will prove interesting to viewers, sharing a few details of what is to come.

Readers be warned, spoilers ahead.

Good news for all the Edie Brit (Sheridan) fans out there.  According to Cherry, the blonde vixen, who was last seen on the verge of killing herself in the season finale, will return to the series.

"There will be an appearance by Miss Sheridan in our first episode, and it will be amazing," Cherry told the Orlando Sentinel.

Moreover, Cherry said that Hatcher's Susan, who has often proven to be unlucky in love, will “try, not so successfully, to settle down to domestic bliss,” with her new husband, Mike, played by James Denton.  Actress Andrea Bowen, who plays Susan's teenage daughter, Julie, told USA Today that Mike's presence will cause complications in the household.

"There's a lot of conflict," Bowen said.  "He tries to be a parental figure, and Julie rebels."

Meanwhile, Longoria's Gabrielle, who discovered her new spouse's true motives in last season's finale, will embark on a steamy affair with ex-husband, Carlos (Ricardo Chavira).

The new season of Desperate Housewives will also reveal the real reason behind Bree's (Cross) fake pregnancy, and will continue to explore Lynette's (Huffman) battle with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

"What we wanted to do is examine the effects illness had on family and friends. We don't want to do some ridiculous she-might-die thing,” Cherry said of Lynette's cancer storyline.  "That's not our point in dealing with the disease.  It was mostly to see what being sick does to you and the people around you.  And in the second episode, we do a fascinating story that one of the women doesn't respond well to Lynette's illness.”

Desperate Housewives
will return for its fourth season on September 30.
