Although actress
Eva Longoria is scheduled to marry on July 7, 2007 in Paris to NBA star Tony Parker, she is not the one who gets to walk down the aisle with a lavish tiara. Gabrielle Solis, Eva Longoria’s character on the drama-comedy
Desperate Housewives, will be the lucky girl who will march down the aisle in with a whopping $1.3 million tiara courtesy of designer Doris Panos, in the show’s season finale.
The said tiara consists of 15 carats worth of diamonds, and is being flown in from Basel, Switzerland, and hand-carried to Los Angeles. It is expected to arrive Monday morning.
According to
Desperate Housewives costume supervisor Karo Vartanian, the much talked about headdress will appropriately fit the “Gaby and Victor” love story. He explained to TV Guide, “We figured Gaby is a rich little girl who is used to the best of everything. Since she’s marrying this much richer guy, Victor, giving her a tiara would be perfect.” Given this idea, Vartanian and his team skimmed through five different jewelry designers, asking for their schemes. Among the five designers, they opted for Panos’ tiara. Vartanian added, “This was absolutely the best one. It’s actually a choker, which can be worn upside down as a tiara. It makes it more versatile, since less and less people wear tiaras these days.”
Meanwhile, Longoria’s onscreen character isn’t the only one who’s getting all the hype. Longoria has also been the subject of the news, gaining much attention for her two bridal showers given by
Desperate Housewives cast members
Felicity Huffman and
Teri Hatcher. Aside from this, Longoria’s wedding plans are also taking off as intended. She said in an interview with People, “The wedding arrangements are going very well, everything's great. We have a lot of things planned.”
To catch a glimpse of Gabrielle’s exquisite tiara, stay glued on
Desperate Housewives, which airs Sundays at 9/8C on ABC.
