After months of talks, Desperate Housewives creator and Torchwood fan Marc Cherry has finally confirmed that Torchwood star John Barrowman is indeed headed to Wisteria Lane. And in no small capacity too, as Captain Jack is set to play the Big Bad in the ongoing Angie Bolen (Drea de Matteo) storyline.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Barrowman, whose DH character name is Patrick Logan, is set to stay for a minimum of five episodes later this season, kicking off in April up until the finale.

Negotiations started as early as August last year for the 42-year-old actor, when he revealed that he was flying to Los Angeles to talk with Desperate Housewives execs for the role.

"I'm off to Los Angeles on Sunday again. I probably shouldn't say this but I've got a meeting with the execs of Desperate Housewives," he told Radio 1's Chris Moyles. "Can you believe it, I'm going to be a Desperate Housewife!"

The internet started buzzing with speculations as to the potential roles for the Torchwood actor, ranging from gay couple home-wrecker to love interest for one of the housewives. Cherry previously said that he definitely wanted Barrowman to drop by the ABC soap, and it was just a matter of finding the right role for him.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Barrowman is best known for playing Captain Jack Harkness in the science fiction series Doctor Who and eventually Torchwood.
