Edie Britt is portrayed by Nicolette Sheridan on the show,
Desperate Housewives. Edie is a real estate agent who has been known to use her sexuality as a means to get what she wants. She has often clashed with Susan Mayer, most especially when it came to fighting over some men of Wisteria Lane. Although her behavior and predatory attitude has alienated her from most of the community’s female population, she did find a good friend in the late Martha Huber. She considered Martha to be her best and real friend, and therefore, actively participated in the investigation that followed. She also co-hosted a memorial service for Martha, but soon realized that it was only she who was greatly affected by Martha’s untimely and brutal passing.
Her feud with Susan worsened when she found out that Susan was the one responsible for her house being burned down. Susan confessed her wrongdoing to Edie as she was about to cast Martha’s ashes into the lake, and Edie, despite knowing the fire to be an accident, threw the ashes in Susan’s face. Edie also became even more frustrated with Susan when she realized that the resident plumber, Mike Delfino, liked Susan better than her. Later, after Susan daughters’ Julie’s birthday party, Edie started going out with Karl Mayer, Susan’s ex-husband. They would eventually get engaged, but when Karl slept with Susan (Susan thought that the engagement was off), she immediately broke up with him and burned Susan’s house down.
Despite living the life of a very available woman, Edie actually has a young boy of her own. She has been divorced twice, and the product of one of those marriages was Travers. Travers had been living with his father because Edie felt that her ex-husband could give him a much better life than she ever could. When her ex-husband suddenly brought and left Travers in her care, Edie tried hard to find someone else who would look after her son, but to no avail. She decided to leave him anyway to attend to her own matters, and when she returned home, she saw that Carlos Solis had invited Travers into his home. From there, Edie and Carlos formed an unexpected friendship, and later ended up sleeping with each other.
