Brit Celebrities Won't be Playing First Gay Couple on 'Desperate Housewives'
Casting for Wisteria Lane's new gay couple has been finalized, and neither star soccer player David Beckham nor music artist Robbie Williams made the cut.

According to TV Guide, soap star Tuc Watkins and former Judging Amy actor Kevin Rahm are set to play the first same-sex couple on ABC's hit dramedy, Desperate Housewives.  The recurring roles will have Watkins and Rahm playing a couple who moves from the big city to the small suburban community.

Tuc Watkins is set to play “country mouse” Bob, while Kevin Rahm will appear as his less-than-pleasant partner, Lee.

The entertainment magazine also claims that the character's names are Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry's way of paying tribute to ABC News' Bob Woodruff and his wife Lee, whom he befriended last Spring.

Watkins is most known for his portrayal of con man David Vickers on the ABC daytime drama series, One Life to Live.  He first joined the show in 1994, and left after two years in order to pursue other television projects.  In 1996, he joined the cast of General Hospital as Dr. Pierce Dorma, but was written off the show the following year.  He permanently rejoined the cast of One Life to Live from 2003 to 2006, with several short term returns this year.

Tuc Watkin's primetime television projects include Melrose Place, NYPD Blue, Six Feet Under, CSI, Baywatch and Beggars and Choosers, wherein he played a gay character named Malcolm Laffley.

As for Kevin Rahm, the 36-year-old actor has had roles in a variety of television series.  Other than Judging Amy, Rahm has also appeared in Jesse, Friends, CSI, Crumbs, Joan of Arcadia, Grey's Anatomy and Ally McBeal.

Also joining the cast of Desperate Housewives' upcoming season are Nathan Fillion (Drive) and Dana Delaney (Kidnapped).  Fillion will play a doctor named Adam Luther, while Delaney will play his wife.

The fourth season of Desperate Housewives will debut on Sunday, September 30.
