Desperate Housewives

Following her recent wedding to rapper Jay-Z, R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles is all set to become a housewife, at least on television.  The 26-year-old singer is reportedly in talks to join the cast of ABC's Desperate Housewives, according to MediaTakeOut.com.

Beyonce's father, Matthew, who also serves as the singer's manager, is negotiating to get Beyonce a recurring role on the popular dramedy and is also looking to secure his daughter a more prominent part on the show.

Nothing is official yet but many media sources are already buzzing over this Desperate Housewives casting news.

"They've already agreed to give Beyonce a cameo appearance.  But [we're] hoping that [she] could be written in for a recurring role, or possibly even a permanent one," a source from Beyonce's camp told MediaTakeOut.com.

Beyonce came into prominence as the lead singer of R&B girl group Destiny's Child, which is ranked as the second best-selling girl group of all time.  After a string of successful projects with the group, she released her debut album “Dangerously in Love,” which spawned singles such as "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy", and earned her five Grammy Awards in a single night in 2004. Shortly after, she released her second album, “B'Day,” consisting of hits like "Déjà Vu" and "Irreplaceable,” the fourth solo number 1 single in the United States, and the album's most successful release.

Eventually, the success of her solo albums established her as one of the most marketable artists not just in the music circuit but in the movie industry as well.  She was cast in the comedy Austin Powers in Goldmember as Foxxy Cleopatra and starred alongside Steve Martin and Kevin Kline in the 2006 comedy film The Pink Panther.  That same year, she also scored the main role in the film adaptation of the 1981 Broadway musical Dreamgirls.
