The hit ABC series Designated Survivor will tackle one of the most shocking events of season 1 as shots are fired during a peaceful governors’ summit at the White House. Is former designated survivor and now-President Kirkman (Keifer Sutherland) the target of the latest attack on the United States government?

In episode 6, “The Interrogation,” President Kirkman’s plans for electing a new Congress will be thrown into turmoil. How will he handle feeling powerless in a job where he should be the most powerful person in the United States?

Also in “The Interrogation,” FBI Agent Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) continues investigating the Capitol bombing and makes one of her most shocking discoveries yet about just why Room 105 was secretly added to the renovation plans for the Capitol building.

In prior episodes, Hannah found that the only survivor of the attack on the Capitol, Congressman Peter MacLeish (Ashely Zukerman), knew that the Capitol was being attacked and hid in a bomb shelter recently constructed inside the building moments before the explosion occurred.

Who Will Become Vice President?

In a shocking twist, Chief of Staff Aaron Shore (Adan Canto) and the President’s special advisor Emily Rhodes (Italia Ricci) will ask MacLeish if he is interested in taking the position of Vice President, as per orders from President Kirkman.

During Designated Survivor season 1, Kirkman, the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, has had to make difficult decisions that will define his presidency and the legacy he will leave behind as the leader of the United States.

After feeling secure in thinking he had captured Majid Nassar, the leader of a terrorist group called Al-Sakar, Kirkman is relieved he has moved the United States away from any further terrorist threats. In episode 5, he seemed to finally relax in his ability to tackle the presidency effectively.

Did Kirkman Capture the Real Terrorist Behind the Capitol Bombing?

Kirkman will soon realize that the real terrorist is still out there and Nassir was just a shield to cover the real killers when he attends a governors’ summit in The White House. This event will be the first time Kirkman will be appreciated for his attempts at leading the government in the right direction after what he feels is his victorious capture of the lead suspect in the bombing.

Just when Kirkman is giving a moving speech at the event, shots are fired. Will they be directed at the president or someone close to him?
