W. Earl Brown was born on September 7, 1963 in Murray, Kentucky. He graduated from Murray State University where he earned his degree in theater. Initially, he starred in the movie Backdraft. This was followed by films like Scream, Being John Malkovich, and The Alamo. His television credits included The X-Files, Charmed, Six Feet Under and
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation . In addition, he is also the co-founder of the band Scared Cowboys where he performs as a vocalist and a guitar player. Ultimately, he became part of the television series Deadwood as Dan Dority.
Dan Dority is Al's right-hand man. He is a former bushwhacker who has been with Al for years, serving as his body guard. In addition, he is obedient in following Al's orders whenever Al wants someone to be killed. He also helps in managing the Gem.
