Stephen Nichols (born on February 19, 1951) turned down an art scholarship at Ohio State University and studied yoga and lived as a monk instead. He worked preparing vegetarian meals for the monks and nuns in a Hollywood ashram. After three years of celibacy he studied at the Theater Academy of Los Angeles City College where he studied for two years. His early appearances were on Pieces of Time, Delirious, and The Lizard King. He also appeared in The Cage, The Shadow Box and Love Letters, He Hunts, and The Dead Boy. Nichols is one of the most enduring stars of daytime television, appearing in Days of Our Lives. Other television appearances are on

Steve Johnson is played by Stephen Nichols in Days of Our Lives. Steve is the youngest of the Johnson children which include Adrienne and Billy. Steve was in the merchant marines with Bo. They were best friends until Bo knifed out his eye while they were fighting over a girl. Steve also became a personnel for Victor Kiriakis, in which Victor paid him to do dirty jobs. He was soon arrested for his crimes but later on freed by blackmailing Larry Welch into taking the fall for everything.
