Josh Taylor was born on September 25, 1943 in Princeton, Illinois. His father was a respected football coach, and Taylor and his brother played quarterback under him. He was educated at Dartmouth College where he got a bachelor's degree in sociology. He then got a full scholarship to the University of Denver law school and earned his juris doctor degree. When he was moving to the West Coast he was invited to become the manager of the Beverly Hills Brakskeller. He then spent eighteen months working at the restaurant which catered to lots of celebrities. He then decided to pursue a career in acting instead of law. He worked at the Riverside Lounge in Santa Monica as a bartender when the Bratskellar closed. He later on got an acting job for Barnaby Jones followed by The Six Million Dollar Man and The Hardy Boys. In 1977 he was cast for a role on Days of Our Lives and later on starred in more television series like Diagnosis Murder, Walker: Texas Ranger, Murder, She Wrote, Matlock, and L.A. Law. He also appeared in Beverly Hills 90210.

Roman Augustus Brady is played by Josh Taylor on The Days of Our Lives. Roman is the son of Shawn and Caroline Brady and a police captain and detective in Salem. He used to be an agent for the International Security Alliance, a spy agency whose objective is to undercover the unusually high-level and global criminal conspiracies that tended to center on Salem.
