Salem's favorite villainess is back on Days of our Lives! Soap Opera Digest has confirmed that actress Louise Sorel, who played Vivian Alamain from 1992 until 2000, will be wreaking havoc on the NBC soap this September.
Since leaving Days of our Lives, Sorel has appeared on other drama series like Port Charles and Passions.
To refresh your memory, Vivian Alamain, the sister of Leopold Alamain, aunt of Lawrence Alamain and ex-wife of Victor Kiriakis, Steven Jones, and Stefano DiMera, first appeared in Salem in March 1992. Upon her arrival at the Alamain Mansion, she witnessed Alphonse LeBeque about to shoot her nephew Lawrence so Vivian pulled out her gun and shot him, stepped over the body in a terribly calm manner, and greeted her nephew.
After her explosive debut in Salem, the devious but delightful Vivian earned a solid fan following as she provided some much needed comic relief on Days of our Lives
, in which she earned five Soap Opera Digest awards for Outstanding Villainess, Outstanding Showstopper, Outstanding Scene Stealer, and Outstanding Supporting Actress.
Blackmailing the doctors to say that her nephew Lawrence's son had died, killing Alphonse LeBeque to protect Lawrence, covering up Nikki's accidental killing of Lisanne Gardner, killing Carly Manning's patients and burying Carly alive were just some of the crimes committed by Vivian. Many fans also enjoyed the dynamic between Vivian and Kate Roberts, who often battled over Victor's affections. Moreover, Vivian was the one who stole Kate and Victor's fertilized egg and consequently gave birth to their son, Philip, and drugged the coffee that Kate's pilot drank causing Kate's plane to crash.
Though Vivian left town in 2000 with her loyal sidekick and new love, Ivan Marais, her name was mentioned in 2007 at John Black's funeral, where family and friends learned that Vivian paid all the expenses.
Stay tuned as Vivian returns to Salem along with Carly Manning.
