Days of our Lives: May 21 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives: May 21 Live Thoughts
Days of our Lives opens today with Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) holding her newborn baby boy.  Except it was only a dream.  She wakes up half an hour later without the baby in her arms, and she freaks out.  Steve (Stephen Nichols) tells her that the baby is gone.  But THAT was just a dream too!  She wakes up for realsies, and Steve tells her that the baby is still in the NICU.

At the DiMera mansion, Sami (Alison Sweeney) and EJ (James Scott) are basking in post-coital bliss.  Sami says that it was just a momentary weakness, but we know she's lying.  Meanwhile, a cop escorts Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) to the front steps of the mansion.

Lucas knocks at the door.  Upstairs, Sami claims that sometimes sex is just sex and not everything has to have deep meaning.  It's like one step forward two steps back with her.  Their conversation is interrupted by the doorbell.  Rolf answers the door and lets Lucas in.  It's news to Rolf that Lucas will be living there from now on.  Lucas decides to go upstairs and surprise Sami.  Uh oh!  Meanwhile, Sami and EJ are starting on round two.  Lucas opens the door and finds them in bed!  Sami runs after him, but Lucas threatens that he's taking his daughter and leaving.  EJ is furious!  He finally managed to melt Sami's frosty exterior only to have Lucas show up and screw things up for him.

Lucas storms downstairs and demands the cop to take him away from here.  Sami rushes downstairs, and Lucas screams at her.  The cop explains that he must stay there under house arrest, no exceptions.  Sami asks for a moment alone with Lucas, and she tries to explain that she missed him and sex with EJ meant nothing.  EJ overhears everything.  Lucas really doesn't want to hear anything that Sami has to say and screams at her to go get his daughter for him.  Sami leaves and comes back with the baby girl.  Lucas is really creepy with the baby.

At the hospital, Steve comforts Kayla some more and encourages her to start thinking of names for the little peanut.  Kayla writes a name on a slip of paper and gives it to Steve to read, who absolutely loves it.  The name is Joseph, but they will call him Joe to avoid confusion between Adrienne's Joseph.

Anna DiMera is back on the screen, whining to Roman (Josh Taylor) about whether Tony likes her or not.  Sigh.  Do we have to see more of this?  Days of our Lives is so much better without this insipid storyline.  Tony (Thaao Penghlis) and Kate (Lauren Koslow) walk in, and Roman confronts Kate about her relationship with Martino Vitali.  Roman shoos Tony and Anna away, and orders Kate a vodka martini with two olives.  Then he demands to know how she ever got involved with Martino.  She says that Stefano introduced them a long time ago.  He was one of her clients at the time, but she wasn't aware of what kind of business he was involved in back then.

At the next table, Tony and Anna argue about Kate.  Tony considers Kate as a friend, more than a client, but Anna is jealous because he seems to have more fun with her than with Anna.  Anna just doesn't want to feel excluded anymore.  Tony pulls out a ring box and proposes to her.  I think this is a colossal mistake.  They clearly still have issues.  Before Anna gives her answer, she asks Tony, "Why now?"  He doesn't really give a real reply, but it doesn't matter anyway because Anna says yes.  Roman (and the rest of the world) smirk behind Anna and Tony's back, giving them three months, six months tops.  Roman offers to buy Kate another drink.

At the Carver residence, Abe (James Reynolds) and Lexie (Renee Jones) have invited a marriage counselor over for a session.  They argue about Lexie's new job as chief of staff at the hospital and the huge workload that gives her.  They also disagree about how to raise Theo.  The therapist has some suggestions on how to work on their relationship with each other and with Theo.  Abe apologizes to Lexie for not being sensitive enough to her needs and concerns about Theo.  Lexie also apologizes as well.  The therapist gives them some homework: they must go on an outing together with Theo with no cell phones.  Then, they must write about their experience.

At the police station, Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Bo are busy doing paperwork on the incident at the pub when Bo (Peter Reckell) was forced to shoot Martino.  Bo is still a bit shaken about shooting him.  After the paperwork is over, Bo and Hope go to collect Sierra to hang out at the pub together.

Next on Days of our Lives: Ava visits Kayla at the hospital, Nicole wants to make a deal with EJ, Lucas can never trust Sami again.
